You sleep on your back and wake up with neck pain. You roll over onto your stomach and feel like you spent three days crawling through sand.
The oldest habit in the Mediterranean house is simple: sleep on your side, knees slightly bent, one pillow between them to keep hips aligned. This is how a mother taught her child, not because a doctor said so but because generations know better when bodies wake up stiff and tired.
Your spine is not a straight line. It curves with purpose — cervical at the top, then thoracic, then lumbar — each bend designed to absorb impact while you move through gravity. Lying on your back flattens that curve against your mattress. Stomach sleeping twists your neck into positions it was not built for.
Sleep on your side, and let your body rest naturally in the shape it evolved to carry itself.
