Cold showers before bed are not for you. They raise your core temperature after cooling it down, telling your brain it is time to wake up rather than wind down.
In the islands, if cold exposure happens at all, it is in the late afternoon — three or four PM when the sun has retreated and light softens into blue twilight. A swim in the harbor water. Thirty seconds at minimum, not a punishment but a moment of deliberate contrast between what you want your body to feel and what it is actually experiencing.
This timing works because it gives your body an hour to start lowering temperature before bed. You are not fighting biology; you are using cold exposure as a tool, not a weapon.
If your evenings are warm and light still spills across the room, skip the cold shower. If heat presses at your chest after sunset, let cool water break through it for three minutes, once only, then return to what keeps you grounded without adding stimulation.
