You wake up and your first instinct is to check your phone. Notifications flood in before your feet touch the floor.

In small towns across the Mediterranean coast, you do not start with information. You start with hydration. A glass of water, maybe a squeeze of lemon from your garden, sometimes warm if it is winter. Not to chase calories or tricks, but to wake up the body after eight hours without intake.

Your brain is a biological machine. It needs fuel and fluids before electricity works properly. Screens drain the battery without restoring anything. Water resets it immediately — you feel the difference when the first sip hits your throat, when consciousness returns to clarity that was not interrupted by red notification dots.

This one glass of water before you check anything else sets the tone for the whole day: priority is your own body, not external input waiting at the edge of your screen.
